Black Pearl Records is very proud to present the new compilation-album "Die Notenbank", which features the East-German Beat- & Rock-scene from the end of the 60´s until the early 70´s and many of their bands, with some songs that have not been released before !
"Die Notenbank" was the first german-language Rock & Beat television show for the young audience in the GDR from 1969-1972 in a total of 8 episodes, and many bands celebrated their television premieres on this show.
The concept for this program was invented by the filmmaker and Beat-music enthusiast Bernd Maywald,
The goal was to give amateur bands the opportunity to play and show their talent to a bigger audience via television, to inspire other modern beat bands to become more self-sufficient, and of course for the
young people to have something to dance to.
The 8 tv-episodes with exceptionally creative early composition in genres of Beat to Jazz Rock was the result, and you could see and hear bands like Joco Dev, Modern Soul Septet, Electra Combo, Bayon, Horst Krüger Septet, Klosterbrüder, Die Puhdys and many more.
In 2014, Black Pearl Records had the idea, in collaboration with Bernd
Maywald, to put together a compilation with in particular still unknown songs, but as well the most oustanding songs from the show. After a long time researching for missing recordings, and numerous telephone calls for the bands and their members, Black Pearl is more than proud to present a great compilation with the finest DDR / GDR Freak Beat, Rock Funk to Soul Jazz.
