The Black Pearl team is very proud to present the 2nd release in our 7inch Jazz series from GDR / East Germany, with two never before released jazz masterpieces of modern jazz.
The Saxophon Sextett with Friedhelm Schönfeld, as the band leader, delivers two oustanding modern jazz tunes from the end of the 60´s.
The A-side with "Acht Plus Zehn" features a wonderful modern bop jazz tune with a melancholic main theme. The B-side with "Elbnebel" is a beautiful melodramatic deep cinematic jazz composition.
Friedhelm Schönfeld is one of the most known progressive Jazz musician & composer of the former East-Germany era, who is still active untill today. Since 1960 he was one of the permanent members of the Broadcast Jazz Big Band of Berlin. He founded and played in the Saxophon Sextett in the mid 60´s and not much later in the early 70s with his own Trio, together with Klaus Koch and Günter "Baby" Sommer.
An unbelievable musical artifact from the 60´s GDR Jazz-scene, that was sleeping in shelfs for years.
